WHO ARE WE?

We Build Jax, LLC seeks to form mutually beneficial joint ventures with non-profit and for-profit entities focused on advancing unity through strengthening individuals and families among the citizens in Jacksonville and its sister communities.

MISSION AND VISION

The mission of We Build Jax, LLC is to design, develop, and facilitate community-focused projects and initiatives, in partnership with key stakeholders, that provide access to affordable housing, workforce development opportunities, higher education, and capital funding for under-resourced communities in the Greater Jacksonville metropolitan area and surrounding counties of Florida’s First Coast.

Through strategically targeted projects and initiatives, We Build Jax, LLC’s vision is to become a recognized and influential change agent, impacting generational reclamation and neigh- borhood transformation through proven best practices in economic and community development.

OUR TEAM

We Build Jax LLC has formulated a leadership team with over 120 years experience capable of handling all aspects of the development process and full life cycle of a real estate project. To advance our mission, we have assembled a capable team of professionals who possess the knowledge, experience, and character traits consistent with our core values. Below are profiles of our current leadership team members, which will be expanded as the future needs become available.

Edmond M. Williams, MPA

Founder & Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Edmond Williams is currently providing leadership as Co-Owner of Dominion Air, Inc. DBA Environmental Air Conditioning Services (EAC) and CEO of We Build Jax, LLC. He has over 35 years of progressive experience as a leader in banking, real estate, accounting, tax law, finance, community development and business management roles in non-profit, private industry and governmental sectors.  His career highlights include serving as a Grant Reader and recommending funding for applicants for the CDFI Fund. In addition, Edmond provided leadership in the submission of a competitive bid of $450 million for a real estate development on seventy acres of river front property in downtown Jacksonville Florida.

His prior employment positions include: Managing Director of Finance for The Potter’s House International Ministries, a nationally recognized ministry with an annual budget of $14 million, Vice President of Operations for a historic 120 year old organization serving homeless Veterans, Chief Financial Officer for a community mental health center with an annual budget of $6.5 million dollars, Commercial Mortgage Loan Specialist for a faith-based federal charted credit union, Owner/Operator of his own financial services business, Taxpayers Service Representative for the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and Staff Accountant for a CPA firm.

Mr. Williams earned his Master of Public Administration from Barry University in Miami FL and Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance and Banking from the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, FL.  He also attained certifications from Crestcom Bullet Proof Management training, The Center for Public & Nonprofit Leadership of Georgetown University, Kingdom Advisors Biblical Financial Foundational Training, and a Certified Facilitator of Faith & Finances for the Chalmers Center. He is committed to continuing to develop his professional skills for ensuring fiscal integrity, organizational stability, collaboration, teamwork, regulatory compliance, and Community Development best practices. He currently serves as a board member of Lifework Leadership First Coast and serves as board Chair of Project Restore Ministries, helping to bring financial literacy to break generational poverty cycles in the inner city of Jacksonville.

Edmond is the devoted husband of Michele Smith Williams. He is the father of six adult children in a blended family and the grandfather of 22.  He is a spirit-filled follower of Christ who is committed to being a “Change Agent” in God’s Kingdom!

Nathan McCardle, CPA

Chief Financial Officer (CFO) 

Nathan is an entrepreneur, serving as Co-Owner of Dominion Air Inc. DBA Environmental Air Conditioning Services (EAC). He began his career with Coopers & Lybrand’s Business Assurance practice, where he achieved CPA certification. He then went on to a successful corporate career, with over 20 years of experience leading corporate organizations through impactful growth strategies and focused compliance in various Corporate Controller, VP Finance and CFO roles with publicly traded companies, private equity owned and Fortune 500 enterprises.

Over his career, McCardle has implemented Sarbanes-Oxley compliance controls systems, maintained SEC compliant accounting and reporting systems, integrated significant acquisitions, established global subsidiaries and led planning and exe- cution of budgets and forecasts for businesses with up to $700 million in revenues.

Nathan earned his degree in Business Administration – Accounting from Oregon State University, graduating magna cum laude. He serves on the board of Project Restore Ministries, helping to bring financial literacy to break generational poverty cycles in the inner city of Jacksonville. He also is a proud alumnus of Lifework Leadership, a Christ-based leadership program.

Mr. McCardle’s single greatest earthly honor is being the husband to his wife of 27 years, Teresa McCardle, and the father to their four children. Additionally, Mr. and Mrs. McCardle are currently in the licensing process to become foster parents. Hav- ing personally experienced 10 years of living in poverty as a child, Mr. McCardle is passionate about bringing the full Kingdom of God to combat poverty and oppression.

Art Hooker

Chief Innovation Officer (CIO)

Art Hooker is the founder and principal of New Metropolitan, a social design and transmedia studio. He has successfully consulted, designed, produced campaigns, and developed content for leading fortune 10 and 500 brands such as Herman Miller, Ingram Micro, Citi, The White House, Verizon and the American Heart Association. Informed by over 10 years of qualitative research on 5 continents in the areas of pa- ssion, creativity, and movements, he partners with companies and individuals who desire to empower the metropolitan regions of the world through leadership develop- ment, learning, media, and business innovation.  During his career, Art has won nume- rous awards in the areas of film, theater, speaking, and learning design. In 2017, he formed Hope Labs Inc. which is a non-profit organization that creates unique collabo- rative opportunities for individuals, corporations, other non-profits, and civic entities.


In 2019, his work was recognized by the Center for Advancing Innovation (CAI). Utilizing, his story innovation framework, Art was selected as the winner of the 2019 CAI Virginia Beach Bio-Innovation Challenge for his Intergenerational Living concept for veterans. 



Growing up with 4 time Grammy Award Winning Blues Legend John Lee Hooker as a great uncle, Art has a unique perspective of how the arts can affect culture globally and locally. He uses key insights from his life experiences as well as those gained in his international work in over 20 countries to procure unique strategies, films, photo- graphy, and learning content that meets each client’s custom needs. Art lives in the Dallas- Fort Worth metroplex with his wife Natasha of over 20 years and his two daughters Khloe and Kaitlin.

Verdun P. Woods, Jr.

Independent Senior Consultant, PeriVision Consulting

As founder and president of Woods Haven Family Enterprises, LLC. dba PeriVision Consulting, Verdun Woods provides strategic planning, organization development and program design services to a broad spectrum of business and non-profit entities. As senior consultant to We Build Jax, LLC, he focuses in the areas of strategy deve- lopment, program design and development, and quality execution.

A native of New Orleans, LA, he graduated from Washington University in St. Louis with a BA in Urban Studies, where he also completed graduate school studies in Urban Planning & Public Administration. His diverse professional experience includes leader- ship roles in both the public and private sectors, including entrepreneurship, non-profit anagement, and corporate training management in Fortune 100 companies.

Verdun has extensive experience in internship program design and implementation, job placement, and professional training and development. As founder and managing di- rector, he led the successful launch of a retail management academy which rapidly became a nationwide model, serving as a pipeline for job readiness and placement in high-paying management careers. He is a certified facilitator of Building a House for Diversity by Roosevelt Thomas & Associates, Culture Transformation by Senn-Delaney & Associates, United & Dynamic Marriage by Marriage Dynamics Institute and admin- isters/interprets the Prepare-Enrich and SYMBIS relationship assessment tools.

Verdun is a devoted husband of 45 years, a loving father of 7 children and grandfather of 19. He and his wife Vanessa were named National Parents of the Year in 1996 by the National Parents Day Foundation, recognized at a special congressional reception and featured on NBC’s Today Show. Together, they are co-founders of Thriving Marriage. Us that offers training, coaching, and live events designed to strengthen marriages and families. Verdun is also a published author of A Marriage that THRIVES: 7 Keys to a Lifetime of Abundance.
